Performing Semi-Automated Motion Tracking Using Segmentation

The semi-automated motion tracking technique is useful when much of an object's motion can be automatically tracked using segmentation, but there are some frames in the sequence where the object cannot be detected by Image-Pro.  This might be the case, for example, if the object moves out of the field of view for a frame or moves into an unevenly illuminated portion of the image.

To perform semi-automated motion tracking:

Follow steps 1 through 5 of the Performing Fully Automated Motion Tracking using Segmentation instructions.

These instructions explain how to optimally configure Image-Pro to automatically detect your object of interest and track it from frame to frame.

Click on the Single tool in the Segmentation Tracks group of the Motion Tracking ribbon.

The Single option is the same as the Auto All option, except that, when Image-Pro cannot detect the object of interest on a frame, instead of closing the track it prompts you to continue the track by manually clicking on the object.  It then resumes the auto-detection of the track until it encounters another frame where it cannot find the object of interest, and so on.
